Steamed Apples with Kaymak & Rose Syrup

A light dessert with delicate oriental flavors.
Ingredients
| 3-4 | apples |
| 1/2 | orange (sliced) |
| 300 ml | Zest of 1 orange |
| 3–4 tbsp | Juice of 1 orange |
| 2–3 | water |
| 1 tsp | sugar |
| 2–3 | cinnamon stars or cinnamon sticks |
| 1 pinch | dried rose petals |
Preparation

Bring water, orange juice, orange zest, sugar, cinnamon, star anise and rose petals to a boil and let infuse briefly.

Peel, halve and core the apples. Add to the syrup and gently simmer for 10–15 minutes until tender but still holding shape.

Serve the apples, spoon some syrup over them and garnish with kaymak, almonds and rose syrup.
Tip:
Serve warm as a winter dessert or cold as an elegant sweet. Perfect for Christmas or as an oriental-inspired treat.
