Spiced white cheese breaded
Saganaki – breaded cheese with salad
White cheese (brine cheese, feta cheese) also tastes good on its own. When fried and breaded, it has both a crispy and soft texture and is ideal as a delicious snack or a spicy addition to a fresh salad.
|1-2 tsp||Zatar spice mixture (thyme, sesame seeds, oregano, black cumin seeds)|
|some||dried Nane mint|
|some||hilli flakes (Pul biber)|
|1||egg, whisked and beaten|
|200g||Beyaz peynir (white cheese) cut into 4 equal slices|
|3 tbsp||extra virgin olive oil|
|1 tbsp||lemon juice|
|some||ground black pepper|
|4 tbsp||extra virgin olive oil|
Mix breadcrumbs with spices. Place flour, egg and breadcrumbs in 3 separate dishes. Dip the cheese in flour, then the egg and finally in the breadcrumbs.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Fry the breaded cheese pieces on each side for 4-5 minutes until golden-brown. Drain on kitchen towels.
Toss lettuce in dressing and place in a large bowl. Drape the cheese pieces over the lettuce.
