Buy Ayran or make it yourself?
Whether you buy Ayran or prefer to make it yourself depends on how much time you want to invest or on your preferences regarding taste and consistency. The advantage of buying our Ayran is that the proportions of the ingredients are perfectly balanced and homogeneity is ensured. If you make your Ayran yourself, you need to ensure that you achieve a consistent texture. Furthermore, the self-made Ayran unfortunately doesn't have a long shelf life and should be consumed within a few days.
Advantages of buying summerized

- Homogeneous consistency is ensured
- Longer shelf life compared to homemade Ayran
Origin and benefits of the yogurt drink
Ayran is a simple, delicious, and refreshing beverage with a long tradition in Turkish cuisine. It is made from yogurt, water, and salt, and is known worldwide as a Turkish national drink for its refreshing taste and health benefits.
Translated, "Ayran" means mixed water and can be quickly and easily made at home. In Turkish cuisine, Ayran is often served with spicy dishes and helps to complement the flavor of spices, creating a pleasant balance.
Our traditional drink is usually enjoyed as is, but it can also be customized with ingredients like mint, cucumber, or basil based on preferences.
Is it healthy to drink Ayran?
Ayran is not only refreshing in taste but also a healthy indulgence. The reason for this is: Ayran is rich in probiotics, the beneficial bacteria that are important for a healthy gut flora! These probiotics contribute to improving digestion, can aid in weight management, and strengthen the immune system. Furthermore, Ayran provides important nutrients such as calcium, protein, and vitamins.
Benefits at a glance
- Refreshing and helps regulate fluid balance
- Low in calories and promotes digestion
- Strengthens the immune system and bones
Ayran also has antioxidant properties that can help protect the body from harmful free radicals. Antioxidants are important for overall health and can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancer.

Ingredients
500g | Yogurt (e.g. our cream yogurt with 10% fat) |
500ml | cold water |
1 TL | salt |
1 TL | Optional: mint, cucumber, or basil |
Preparation
Pour the yogurt into a bowl and add the cold water. Stir until a uniform consistency forms.
Next, add the salt and stir well again until the salt is completely dissolved. Traditional Ayran should be vigorously stirred until a thick layer of foam forms. Let it rest for a few minutes afterwards.
Pour the Ayran into glasses and serve it cold. Optionally, you can garnish the Ayran with fresh mint, cucumber, or basil. Prefer it more sour? Our Köy Ayran is made with sour cultured milk and is known for its sour taste. Tip: This Turkish yogurt drink pairs especially well with spicy oriental dishes and definitely tastes best when chilled! Enjoy it as a refreshing beverage or as a side with your meal.
